Mantrailing in Latvia
The history of mantrailing in Latvia started on 22-25 February, 2013 when the 1st mantrailing seminar using The Kocher Method took place in Riga, Latvia.
The seminar was led by Alexander Hajtin (INBTI Assistant Instructor – www.mantrailing.ru, K-9 instructor of Extremum SAR Team (Sankt-Peterburg, Russia).
Representatives of Latvian State Police, Fire and Rescue Department and volunteers SAR organizations joined the seminar among other participants. The police officers who participated in the seminar implemented the method into their training regimen and already have proved positive results in police search operations.
After introduction to The Kocher Method, Saules Suns opened a special program for dog handlers and their K-9 partners for Missing Persons Search operations.
Our next goal is to create certified dog handlers volunteers unit to assist government agencies and SAR groups in missing person investigations. At present time Saules Suns has practical workshops 3 times a week for the group of 10 dog handlers without admission fees.
